About The Programme

This part-time, 100% online Master of Science in Nursing is designed for qualified, registered nurses practising in healthcare settings in the UK and internationally who wish to advance their professional practice through evidence-based care, critical thinking and leadership. Delivered by Coventry University Online in collaboration with ASTML, the programme supports the professional development of nurses from all fields of practice.

Coventry University was ranked 9th Modern University in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 and holds 5 QS Stars for Teaching and Employability. Please note this programme is designed to support professional development and career progression, but does not in itself confer eligibility for Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.

What You’ll Study

The programme examines nursing’s contribution to public health and the management of long-term conditions, the critical challenges shaping contemporary nursing practice, and evidence-based practice and research methods in nursing. Students also study strategic leadership and service improvement in a module aligned to the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice at no additional cost, before completing a dissertation.

The curriculum is designed to build advanced skills in critical thinking, research methodology and evidence-based decision-making, whilst developing the leadership capabilities needed to influence policy, service delivery and organisational change across health and social care settings.

Careers and Opportunities

On successful completion of the programme, graduates will have developed the knowledge and skills to progress into advanced roles across leadership, service improvement, research and public health. Students successfully completing this degree could develop careers in health and social care leadership and management, public health policy and advocacy, nursing and healthcare education, and service transformation and quality improvement.

Graduates may explore opportunities across NHS trusts, private healthcare providers, public health bodies, academic and research institutions, and international healthcare organisations.

Please note that further study opportunities are subject to competitive application, availability, meeting any applicable visa requirements and additional costs may apply.
