About The Programme

This 100% online Master of Science in Forensic Psychology is designed for those seeking leadership roles in forensic psychological practice and looking to expand their career opportunities within the criminal justice system. Delivered by Coventry University Online in collaboration with ASTML, the programme is suitable for those currently working in psychology or social science roles, professionals outside the field, and those looking to start a career in forensic psychology.

Coventry University was ranked 9th Modern University in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 and holds 5 QS Stars for Teaching and Employability. The programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and fulfils Stage 1 academic requirements towards Chartered Psychologist status for students who hold Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).

What You’ll Study

The programme examines offending behaviour and the criminal justice system, forensic risk assessment and management, and interventions with forensic client groups, alongside research methods in psychology. A module developed with the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) builds project planning and ethics skills, including eligibility for an RSA digital credential and a 12-month RSA fellowship. Students conclude their studies with an independent research project.

The curriculum is designed to build critical understanding of psychological theory across the criminal justice process, from investigation and punishment to working with forensic clients and assessing risk, drawing on real-world case studies and insight from professionals across prison services, police, criminal justice agencies and charities.

Careers and Opportunities

On successful completion of the programme, graduates will have developed the knowledge and skills to pursue a range of roles across forensic psychology and criminal justice. Students successfully completing this degree could develop careers in forensic psychology, prison education, prison and probation work, youth offending services, and law enforcement and security services.

Graduates may also progress towards further professional study and training, including routes towards Chartered Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society, depending on individual qualifications and experience.

Please note that further study opportunities are subject to competitive application, availability, meeting any applicable visa requirements and additional costs may apply.
